In It For the Long Haul: Celebrating Corey Ogren’s 25 Years at Jet Linx

Corey Ogren’s journey began in 2000 when he joined Jet Linx as a Beechjet pilot, back when the Company managed just three aircraft.

In the quarter-century since his hiring, Ogren has seen exponential growth and witnessed milestone after milestone – from the growth of the safety management system to reaching 200 million miles flown in 2025. As Jet Linx Denver Base Chief Pilot, he uses his extensive technical knowledge and Company wisdom to ensure the next generation of flight crews are as dedicated to the Jet Linx mission as he is. His commitment to Jet Linx and the values that drive the Company was recognized in the inaugural Jet Linx Supply the High-5 (STH-5) Core Value Awards in 2022, where he received the award for Dedication.

Read on to learn more about the Company’s longest-serving team member.

when did your interest in aviation begin?

When I was about four years old, I heard something loud and ran outside the house to find saw a B-52 with two Avro Vulcans in a V-formation, a few thousand feet up. I still remember this like it was yesterday. The sound of 16 turbojet engines was better than any concert or top-50 track I had ever heard, and I was hooked at that point.

why did you want to become a pilot?

It was just something I had a passion for, and I knew if I became a pilot for a living, I could do what I loved every single day.

describe your career path before coming to jet linx.

As far as the aviation career path, I started with some flight instructing, and then I moved onto flying for a small cargo outfit in Omaha for about two years. Then in 2000, I started at Jet Linx, a then small operation with two Mitsubishi Diamond jets and a Beechjet, and I’ve been here ever since.

what are your thoughts on the safety culture at jet linx?

It is constantly evolving and the Jet Linx safety team is top notch. I am always impressed with the safety culture here because I have seen it grow from ground zero. Considering I started my career in the late ‘90s, Safety Management Systems were not really a thing. Our safety protocols and the team that run them are looking out for our clients and team members, and our crews are at the tip of the spear when it comes to safety. I couldn’t be prouder.

what do you enjoy most about your job?

I have gone places I likely never would have, yet my favorite destination is back home. And the views from my seat are phenomenal!

what would you like people to know or better understand about being a pilot?

There are a lot of moving parts to ensure an on-time departure and arrival. As I have experienced over my career, we rely on others to assist us – getting the aircraft serviced for flight with fuel, in-flight catering, etc. Pilots want everything to go smoothly so we can depart and arrive on time and according to the flight plan. However, things happen occasionally, and we are scrambling in the background to make it work. When things do go wrong, it’s the pilot that has to take accountability and face the client. This is never my favorite part of the job, but with a talented team to assist me in accomplishing the mission, I rarely ever had to give a client bad news.

what aircraft are you typed on and how many hours do you have?

I’m typed on the Beechjet 400, Hawker 800, Gulfstream G-200, Gulfstream G4 and Citation X. Last time I checked, my total was north of 10,000 hours.

what is something that people may not know about you? Or do you have any hobbies you’d to share?

Ever since moving to Colorado in 2012, I have always wanted to explore the Rocky Mountains via motorcycle. So in 2016, I purchased an adventure bike and began a new hobby of back country exploration during the warmer months. Thankfully, I have a solid group of friends that are like brothers to me that enjoy a yearly, weeklong adventure trip, travelling on off-pavement roads and 4×4 trails over mountain passes and sand. We have completed numerous tours of CO, NM, UT, WY, ID, and some of MT.  I look forward to more adventures!

what advice would you share with a younger pilot or someone interested in getting into the aviation industry?

Be patient. Don’t stop learning as this industry is constantly evolving with new regulations or procedures. There will be difficult flight assignments with challenges, but don’t get discouraged. It will only add to your experience and make you a better aviator.
