My Home Base – Brent Claymon, Jet Linx Indianapolis

In each edition of My Home Base, we feature a member of the Jet Linx team from across the country. In this edition, meet Brent Claymon, Jet Linx Indianapolis Base Partner.

Outside of his work with our private jet operation, Brent S. Claymon is a Principal of Tyson Onsite, Encore Sotheby’s International Realty, and Claymon Investments.

private-jet-brent-claymonIn 1993, Brent and his two brothers founded Pac-Van, Inc., a leasing and sales distribution company for mobile offices, modular buildings and storage solutions. The company grew substantially over the next 13 years to a footprint of 21 locations in 14 states, spanning from Nevada to Florida. Brent ultimately sold Pac-Van to a private equity firm in 2006, after realizing over 100% average annual revenue growth during the entire 13-year run.

Six months after exiting Pac-Van, Brent acquired an independent automotive dealership. Park Place Motors was a “boutique” sales and service dealership with a focus on pre-owned European automobiles. Park Place Motors was sold in late 2012, but filled the gap between Pac-Van and the purchase of Tyson Onsite in February 2012.

Tyson Onsite was founded over 45 years ago and is doing business in the same industry as Pac-Van. Competing against a company that Brent founded has been interesting, and he is propelled by finding ways to differentiate from old paradigms and grow while being a responsible adversary.

Brent is also involved in several private equity investments: Encore Sotheby’s International Realty, a residential real estate brokerage franchise; SalesVue.com, a sales prospecting automation software company; and Bloomerang, a software company that helps non-profits reach, engage, and maintain the donors and stakeholders they require to be viable.

Higher education and community involvement are very important to Brent, as shown by his involvement with nonprofit boards for Gleaners Food Bank, Child Advocates, Indiana University Varsity Club, Butler University College of Business Board of Visitors, Stanley K. Lacy Leadership Series, Indiana Golf Association, and the Indiana University Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Brent received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in Finance and Real Estate and Master’s of Business Administration in Finance from Butler University. Brent is an avid tennis player and despite his many business and community interests, he continues his tennis passion by coaching Varsity Tennis at Brebeuf High School in Indianapolis, where he has helped coach 5 individuals to State Championship Rings in the past 8 years.

Some recognition has come Brent’s way, including the following: The Indiana Heartland Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Indiana University Growth 100 Award, The Indianapolis Business Journal’s 7th Fasted Growing Company & “40 Under 40” awards, Kelley School of Business Distinguished Entrepreneur-In-Residence, Indiana Economic Development Commission’s Companies to Watch Award, Butler University Hilton U. Brown Alumni Achievement Award, “Inc 500” fastest growing private companies award, and the #1 fastest growing private company of the “Inc Magazine Inner City 100” Award.

Brent is married to Sarah Claymon and has 4 children.
