JET LINX DETROIT LOCAL HISTORY
KPTK was originally established as Pontiac Municipal Airport on November 27, 1928, and was dedicated in June 1929 with a National Aeronautic Association certificate signed by Orville Wright. On February 11, 1930, KPTK became the first airport in the nation to receive an A-1-A rating from the U.S. Department of Commerce, earning Certificate No. 000001. KPTK is now the 17th-busiest general aviation airport in the United States and second-busiest in Michigan after Detroit Metro.
