JET LINX TULSA LOCAL HISTORY
KTUL was founded on January 21, 1928 when 47 Tulsa businessmen executed the 'Stud Horse Note,' a private financing agreement to acquire 390 acres northeast of the city. By February 1930 — roughly 19 months after opening — Tulsa's monthly air traffic surpassed the combined totals of London, Paris, and Berlin airports. American Airlines established a maintenance and engineering base at Tulsa in 1946 that remains in operation today.
