JET LINX WASHINGTON D.C. LOCAL HISTORY
Dulles was the first U.S. airport specifically designed to handle commercial jet aircraft. The main terminal was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen and the airport was formally dedicated by President John F. Kennedy on November 17, 1962. The Saarinen terminal was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
